About Jo

Jo comes from an International Swimming background. Discovering yoga in South East Asia in 1998, during her two year journey to New Zealand from the UK, it fueled her passion for health, well-being and discovering the strength of mindfulness. She was drawn to the classical style of Iyengar Yoga with its focus on extending with correct alignment, developing strength, flexibility, balance and inner calm.

Under the guidance of Senior Iyengar Yoga teachers, Jo became a certified Classical Hatha Yoga teacher in 2017. She continues to build her yoga practice and connection with her yoga community.

Jo holds a Master of Fine Arts degree and continues her Botanical Art practice inspired by native New Zealand flora. Together with her passion for yoga, open water swimming and hiking, she encourages her students to explore and connect with our natural environment.

What our students say…

Jo is a calm, supportive and inclusive teacher. I love the way each yoga position evolves with the cues and prompts Jo gives, helping you to connect to your own body.
Jo is such an awesome instructor. She eases you into poses that require balance and strength. I’ve been going to Jo’s yoga for over 6 years and still look forward to my weekly class.
I have been attending Jo’s yoga classes for several years and always leave class feeling better for having been. Jo’s calming demeanor, intentionality, and responsiveness to the need of her students never fails to impress me. The small class sizes are another positive feature of these classes.
Thanks for offering manageable alternatives to the more difficult poses.  I’m looking forward to continuing with this class!
